CMG lights up Wollongong Harbour’s Breakwater Lighthouse for the Cancer Council NSW
The Illawarra night sky was lit up in a frenzy of colour on Friday night surrounding the small Breakwater Lighthouse on Wollongong Harbour. Many thought it was an alien invasion, others a call for Batman himself, but it was a different set of local hero's benefiting from the CMG Audio Visual's 'pop-up' lighting show.
A small preview of what is to come, CMG Audio Visual is pleased to partner with the NSW Cancer Council to deliver the upcoming Stars of Wollongong Dance for Cancer event on Saturday, June 4th at the Wollongong UniHall.
The event, showcasing the talents and dancing prowess of twelve local Illawarra personalities, aims to raise much needed funds for the outstanding support services of the Cancer Council NSW Southern Region. Spokeswoman for the Cancer Council, Caitlyn Zalewski, has stated that the Cancer Council is 97 percent funded by the Community, so they rely heavily on the generous donations of the Illawarra and wider South Coast.
Notable Illawarra personalities participating in the event are WIN News presenter and Chief of Staff Melissa Russell, i98FM Breakfast Co-Host Fairlie Hamilton and Chief Operating Officer of the UOW SMART Infrastructure Facility, Tania Brown as well as Asim Iqbal, Tracey Paterson, Robb Grubb, Mark Smith, Fabian Iacovelli, Lauren Kayle, Neil Webster, Chase Murray and Desiree Savage.
Social Media was set alight as Illawarra residents all the way from Bulli to Dapto reported bright lights moving throughout the night sky. Those who did follow the lights to satisfy their curiosity arrived to a unique 'pop-up' lightshow unlike Wollongong Harbour had ever seen.
The show featured 24 weather-resistant IP54 LightSky AquaBeam fixtures controlled by a MA Lighting Dot2 Console - with ultra-bright Projection of the Stars of Wollongong, Cancer Council NSW and CMG AV logos provided by a Barco RLM-W8 Projector.
The Stars of Wollongong Dance For Cancer is in its second year and will see the local Stars shine on stage competing for judge and audience votes. Proceeds will contribute to the various local Cancer Council support services, directly helping those living with cancer in our Illawarra Community. These services include the Cancer Information Centre at Wollongong Hospital, free transport to cancer treatment, in home help, access to financial, legal and emotional support as well as funding a number of prevention programs and world-class research projects.
